Birmingham fire and rescue crews responded to a two-alarm fire at a vacant apartment complex in Woodlawn on Friday. The apartments are located on 50th Street and Messer Airport Highway.

A total of six engine companies, two truck companies and two rescue units are at the scene. Between 25 and 30 responders are on hand to help put out the flames. Chief Ward says more responders were called in to fight the fire due to the high temperatures.
