BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- A teacher is on administrative leave after thousands of dollars go missing at Huffman High School.
The Birmingham School system's CFO made the announcement at Tuesday night's meeting. Dr. Ed Richardson says the teacher has been on leave since last week when it was discovered that about $9,000 was missing.
"From what I understand the teacher was responsible for collecting money. What I've deduced, that money didn't make it into the school's treasury," Richardson said.
The school is currently investigating the situation. Richardson says that once that is done, he'll make a recommendation on the teacher's future with the district.
