BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- A former Birmingham police officer charged with arson was in court on Thursday, this time on child pornography charges.
Officers say they found the incriminating images on a lap top in Curtis Thornton's home while conducting a search in relation to the arson cases. Thornton was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today, but waived it.
His attorney says there is not a lot of information on the child pornography charges that would have come out in a preliminary hearing. He felt a hearing would have prejudiced a jury that may hear Thornton's arson case.
