GBHS continues to care for animals evacuated from the Gulf Coast | News
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is helping take care of animals displaced by Isaac.
It's a joint effort between the North Shore Animal League America and the Humane Society. When the hurricane hit they transported animals to safety from flooded out areas like Jefferson Parish in Louisiana.
Once evaluated medically and spayed or neutered, the animals that have not been claimed by their owners wil be available for adoption.
Kelli Holmes with GBHS says that all of the animals have also been microchipped. She also says that GBHS is in need of supplies like Clorox bleach, blankets and pet food.
