Victim identified in north Birmingham shooting | News
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- Birmingham police are investigating a homicide at a residence in north Birmingham. A man was killed and a woman was wounded in the shooting. The shooting happened around 5:40 a.m. Monday, April 23 at a resident in the 5000 block of 43rd Place North of the Inglenook community.
East Precinct officers arrived to the scene and discovered a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to Sergeant Johnny Williams with BPD. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene. Birmingham police have identified the victim as Jacory Bennett, 29, of Birmingham.
The female victim had a non-life-threatening injury to her hand, apparently from a gunshot. She was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have not released her name.
Police believe the shooting is the result of a domestic dispute. They have one suspect in custody but no charges have been filed.
